Support in Action

Partnership with the Al Hirschfeld Foundation

The Slutzker Family Foundation partnered with the Al Hirschfeld Foundation to help bring its innovative visual and performing arts curriculum to students throughout Central New York. Inspired by the work of legendary artist Al Hirschfeld, the program engages students in grades K–12 through creative, arts-based learning experiences.

With support from the Slutzker Family Foundation, the curriculum was introduced through Redhouse Arts Center programming, helping Syracuse become the first region outside New York City to participate in the initiative. The program serves as a model for expanding arts education to underserved communities across the country.

The Foundation also supports the preservation of Hirschfeld’s artistic legacy at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. A permanent installation featuring Hirschfeld’s iconic drawing table and barber chair is maintained in memory of Lillian M. Slutzker through the generosity of the Slutzker Family Foundation.

Supporting Loretto's Memory Care Campaign

The Slutzker Family Foundation made a multi-year commitment to support Loretto’s Memory Care Capital Campaign and the development of a dedicated Memory Care Residence in Central New York.

Designed specifically for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, the residence at The Nottingham in Jamesville provides an environment tailored to the unique needs of residents and their caregivers.

The initiative held special meaning for Lillian Slutzker. Her husband, Emanuel “Manny” Slutzker, lived with Alzheimer’s disease, giving her a personal understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with dementia and the families who care for them.

In recognition of the Foundation’s support, a screened porch and movie palace within the Memory Care Residence will carry Lillian’s name.
